The place I go charges $70/hour. Some do a good job at deep tissue massages where they really work the knots in the back. My back is bad enough that she has to use her elbow to get into the muscle. If I could afford it I would go weekly. But I usually go every couple of weeks. Definitely worth it if you have back issues. Make sure you ask for a deep tissue if that's what you want.

A friend of mine is a CMT. One morning I woke up and went into the bathroom to do the morning ritual, had to sneeze so I bent over the sink and let it rip. Well, it pulled a muscle in my back and shoulder (it was a damn good sneeze). Called her up and we met at her studio, she rubbed me down for an hour. God it felt good. No happy ending though...

EDIT: Accupuncture is better.

Not to be a wiseass but thats like all the people I hear telling me the Ionic Breeze is so freaking awesome and I need to get one.
Then I ask them how much they paid and the typical respose is "Oh, I didnt pay for it, it was a gift".
Or at the very least they have a friend or relative who gets them a 75% discount or something similar.
No one I know would actually dish out several hundred bucks for one of those things.

Same with the massage. The OP is asking if its worth $50 and it seems like most people who get them regularily dont pay the full price. They have a friend or spouse who takes care of them for free or at a HUGE discount.

For myself: I did pay 60 bucks once and it was nice but not "OMGWTFBBQ" nice.
It felt OK at the time and I was sore as hell the next day.
Never went back. I can beat myself up on my own time and not spend a bunch of money.

I don't think I would want a massage from a guy.

why not?

I don't know. I guess it depends on the guy. If he was young and attractive I would definitely want him to give me the massage, but I don't fancy the idea of some old guy rubbing my back.
I would feel more comfortable with a woman.
cute young guy>woman>everyone else

You were sore because your muscles were worked out. You can't do that to yourself.

I could get my SO to give me a massage. Is a professional massage worth the $50-$80 price?

Seriously, how insensitive can you get... jeez... some people...

BTW, do you offer "full" body massage? if you know what I mean. (and I think you do)

Hear, hear!
Fun and games are OK, as long as they don't become insulting...

My SO is a Registered Massage Therapist (Ontario), and it took two years of school, with lots and lots of classes and exams. These people really work hard for their certification, and as funny as it may seem to talk to them about "happy endings", it becomes tiresome really quick - not to mention that it's offensive as hell.

ummm im not sure if there is a hidden meaning with "Full" body massage. so i will tell you my meaning of full body massage is a massage from head to foot, all areas are palpated except for the pubic area, and breast if the client is a woman. all though i do have many female clients who are comfortable having their pec major/minor massaged.

Professional massage are alot better than stuff your so's does (unless your so is a cmt). I've been to a couple different ones and they have always made my back feel better. I got one down in florida that actually worked miracles with me. As for the guy girl massage thing. I've had both massage me and honestly as long as they have some strength it's fine. It's doesn't matter if it a guy or a girl or a gorilla as long as they do they job right. Remember focus on the task at hand you are there to get your back worked on not to flirt with a massage therapist.
