Are professional massages worth it?

My sister talks about spa packages and massages all the time, but I have never really felt any desire to get one.
I could get my SO to give me a massage. Is a professional massage worth the $50-$80 price?
Do you leave thinking, "Wow!"

sooooo much better than the mickey-mouse ones your friends give you. I've never paid 50 bucks for mine either.

Only when it includes a happy ending.

Yes they are.
I have found the quality ones do cost a bit more, but they are a wonderful indulgance for sure.

A lot of times, spas will run promos for specific massages.

At least try one once. If i had unlimited funds, i would get one every chance i could. They relax you beyond comprehension!

I've had 2 now from 2 different places. Sure, they feel good while you are getting them, and you feel moderately better for a few hours afterwards. But its not like some eurphoric fix to all your problems. By the next day you feel your normal self again. Actually, after about an hour I don't think I really felt any different than before. I guess you are supposed to get them regularly, like every couple weeks. But that would get expensive fast. I guess its worth it to try it once just to see what its all about, but I really don't plan on getting another one anytime soon.

I only had one professional massage (my current GF gave it to me as a gift). In my opinion, no, it wasn't worth the money. Sure it felt good, but I've had far better from my significant others. And I know for a fact, I give better ones and I've never been trained. All it takes is someone who cares enough to go slow.

I'd definately pay $10 for an hour. Not $80.

I've only gotten massages from a sport's clinic and from a spa at a hotel.

I enjoy the sport's clinic one because they dig deep into the muscles to try and fix them. It can get quite painful if they find a problem spot. Where as the hotel's massage was more a relaxation one. It felt good for the first bit and maybe after an two hours I didn't feel the effect anymore.

I'd recommend going to a sport's clinic.

I've received massages from both genders. As long as the person giving the massage isn't a weakling, he/she should be able to give a decent massage.

Although, I do enjoy it when the little Asian ladies stand on my back.

One of my sister's friends is a message therapist and I've got to say she is definitely better than any of the SO's I've had. Giving a good message is not all that difficult. Just requires a bit of hand strength and to actually think about what you're doing. I just like it when a girl is able to pop my back for me. Feels great. Of course my spine emits a loud crack that makes her think she's broken something :p
