Are people who drive big trucks really just wussies?

I saw one of these large Ford trucks, probably a F-250 or 350, that was lifted and had those monster truck tires. This thing was huge. Well we were on the freeway interchange and there was this piece of tire tread on the road. Nothing big, about 4-5 inches wide and 12 inches long. Instead of just going right over this thing, the guy in the truck swerves half way into the other lane just to avoid it. A car coming in the other lane had to brake quite hard not to slam into him.

I can understand if he was in a small car cause that piece of rubber can do quite a bit of damage but he was in this monster truck. It's almost like me stepping on an ant.😕
 
Do you realize how much damage that would have done to another car if it were caught up in his tire and then shot out?
 
When I was in high school there was this really short guy - 4'6" or so - aged 17 or so. He drove this Ford pickup with monster wheels - had a booster seat, extended foot pedals, you name it. Pretty funny.

Yes. You should run everyone off the road. To finish them, turn around and drive by while dropping a grenade into the car. If that doesn't work, use a portable shoulder-launched missile.

Geez..notice I didn't say AVOID AT ALL COSTS REGARDLESS OF OTHER VEHICLES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whoopty do! I've hit half a tire carcass that was kicked up from a car in front of me...busted the headlight of the Ford F150 I was driving but that's it. Still, it's a hell of a lot safer than swerving into another lane to avoid it. I'll take a busted headlight over a raised truck slamming into the side of my car any day of the week.
 
My car has been hit by a full sheet of plywood that flew out of the back of a pickup at 65MPH and no damage was done.

I don't have a problem with regular non-lifted trucks. Don't those lift kits come with multiple warnings and say for off-road use only? I seriously don't think I'm being unreasonable at all with this.

I've seen other trucks and 18 wheelers run over these rubber scrapes of tires that couldn't avoid them in time and I have yet to see any go flying at the cars behind them. At the most the tire treads just roll a few feet and stop.

Then you have been lucky....i had one fly up and hit my hood and left a big old dent and luckly bounced off and didnt hit my winshield which probobly would have been shatterd.
Also Most of the time the big trucks have mudflaps which help contrain the debree but if your behind one of those moster trucks without mudflaps or small ones then you are out of luck.
i say avoid at all costs big pieces of tires on the road, reguardless of car size, reguardless of who is around. chances are people can avoid you easier than they will be able to avoid a flying piece of debree which msot people just watch themselves hit because there is no time to react.

seriously?

a couple years ago or so i almost got hit by a flying sheet of plywood from the back of a truck

i thought for sure if it had hit me my poor little z would have been murdered...at least disfigured

where did it hit and what kind of car?

Windshields don't shatter. They are made out of safety glass and will stop most things that could be kicked up by a vehicle in front of you. You are creating a far more dangerous situation by swerving suddenly at 60 mph than if you just take the hit and go on.

97 Maxima....I got VERY lucky. It hit my windshield, but it did so flat, and then the wind picked it up and blew it over my car. If it would have hit edge first I might not be typing this.

My friend hit a piece of plywood kicked up on the freeway at 70mph in his G35 coupe and it smashed up one of his headlights and dented the hood and front bumper but that's it. 5 days in the body shop and it was good as new. Hardly worth risking your life just to avoid minor body damage to your car.

Well most people in big trucks are too chicken to drive anything small. Thus, by definition, yes they are wussies. Same goes for anything that is typically "macho". Macho is another word for "too chicken to do it any other way".
