I'm watching "How It's Made" on the Science channel and this dude is assembling a computer. The narrator says : "This is the video card. The more memory the video card has, the clearer the image in the screen."

How the heck can a program get away with something like this unless people are incredibly stupid when it come to computers?

This wasn't the only dumb thing either. They pretty well butchered computer terminology too. It could have been a borderline comedy.

It's not stupidity, it's lack of knowledge. Just because you have an interest in it and know the subject well, does not mean that every n00b does.

Yes :(

They're dumber than that.

It's like the infinite improbability drive... if we could somehow harness people's infinite stupidity, we could do something...

... something EXTREMELY stupid.

Yes there are TOO MANY people that are that stupid when it comes to computers. Thankfully these stupid people open up many jobs possibilities for others.

I love it when I hear guys say a 256MB card is twice as fast as a 128MB.
Especially when referring to a Radeon 9200 SE.

I think the same thing about cars when we see YACT here on ATOT.

"My car wont start is that why my tire is flat?"

"My brake lights dont work so I replaced the battery, the brake lights still dont work, what the hell is wrong?"

"My car goes RRRRR RRRRRR SSSSSS what could the problem be. The noise comes from the front or the back, and oh yeah, its a Toyota. How do I fix it?"

"I backed into a pole at 80MPH, how much will someone charge to to fix it before my parents come home?"

It's not as stupid as you are making it out to be. Although what he said does seem somewhat silly, he's essentially saying that with more memory (and thus likely having a more powerful card), you can increase the resolution and make the game look more sharp and detailed - or "more clear"...

well more memory in a vid card does corralate into better textures in games, which results in a cleaner image

Um..... How old are you?
Tons of people know nothing about computers. In fact, the younger you are the more you know, is a phrase that fits "like a glove".
