Are Pentium II 400 unlocked or locked?
THe only reason Im asking this is because i currently ahve a p2 266 on a intel atlanta motherboard.

my friends willing to give me his p2 400 , which wouldnt help because

66x4 still = 264, since my bus only goes up to 66mhz

I was hoping i could change it to a p333
(max p2 my board will handle being a LX chipset with no oc options)

if your friend is giving you the CPU why not upgrade to a MOBO that supports a p2 400. they are around $50-$60. the p2's are locked, all you can do is up the front bus.

BTW i had a p2 400@496 (124 x 4) on a biostar mobo.

p2 400's are locked at 4x so you would have to have a mother board that would let you chang the bus speed to 4x103,4x112,4x124,ect.The p2 400 isnt a real good choice for over clocking. The p2 333 is somewhat better, many reached 500.
