Just wanna know...they are cheap...but are they any good? They are no Plextors or course...but would you put them in a clients computer, knowing that your reputation may be on the line?

Mines was a Lite-On. :)

Came with BurnProof, performing great so far. :)

I'd reccomend them. I use them in customers comps too. :)

No problems so far.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with them. We bought ours, and within 4 months it died. They never did send a replacment, after a while, they kept giving us reasons as to why they wouldn't replace it. We broke down and bought a nicer HP burner, and it works great.

Mmmm. I have a 12x.

Lite-On isn't a cheesy brand. I guess they used to be. But I have a 32x Lite-On that was a Compaq OEM that runs strong still. I mean they may be a cheapie sounding brand, but price/performance, you get more than you pay for.

They make great drives. Haven't heard that much good or bad out of the 16x, but I can sure say the 12x are great drives. :)

BTW, this coming from someone who had a 12x Plextor, a 12x Sanyo, a 8x Teac and a 16x Plextor....

I said the Lite-On performs almost to par with the Plextors. :)

So yah, but it's really your choice. I use them, doesn't mean you have to.

Regards,

-Sean

Mmmm...

Isn't HP really Sony drives?

I dunno, I kinda like BurnProof enough to buy a drive with it...

...even though it doesn't really matter if your system is good enough to suffice without it.

Oh well, sorry your Lite-On experience was a bad one. :(

Hopefully if you ever do get another it'll be a great experience.

BTW, I don't like HP, I've had 4 drives die on me within a few weeks, also TDK's I don't like, had 4 drives in one week, none worked at all, had it looked at by multiple people...

decisions , decisions...

go with the cheaper PacDigital (possibly Lite-On drives) and risk it breaking down...
or spend 2x the price for a plex?

but the pac dig. does have burnproof also...hmmmm.....???

I almost guarantee you'll get a Lite-On with the 12x drives. :)

Pacific Digital rebadges a lot of Lite-On's for their drives. :)

Go for the Lite-On's. :)

Some Pacific Digital packages used to have Ricoh burners on them, but if its a Lite-on its a pretty reliable brand. Its cheap but most of the people I know that owns one doesn't have problems at all.

Another vote for the Pacific Digital drives. Mine is the rebadged Lite-On w/burnproof. I have nothing but good things to say about it. :D
