Under the best conditions my friend had two IBM 75GXP's running in Raid 0 and he never got above 45MB/sec... Either he's running SCSI or something's faked

Not at all. Something isn't right with your friend's setup! I have some screen shots of WB99 STR scores. The first two are ATA RAID with Maxtor Diamond Max Plus 60's and IBM 60 GXP disks respectively. These were running on a Abit KT7A-RAID mainboard with a highpoint HPT370 controller. The third one is a pair of Seagate Cheetah X15 36LP disks on an Adaptec 29160 controller using Windows XP Software RAID 0. The 29160 is running on an Abit KG7 RAID board with the HPT370A disabled.

(2) Maxtor Diamond Max 60+ Striped on HPT 370

(2) IBM Deskstar 60 GXP Striped on HPT 370

(2) Seagate Cheetah X15 36LP Striped with Windows XP Software on Adaptec 29160

Cheers!
