are most IT people antisocial?

Absolutely not. I know quite a few IT guys who I swear must be gigolo come Fridays. They do make lots of money and they play hard.

All depends on their personalities, hobbies, and interests

Some IT folks are very social and only use computers for work related reasons.

Some IT folks couldn't talk to a girl even if they tried (which is pretty sad)

Again, I'm presenting the two extremes

Im IT, and im anti social...
not because i spend all my time on the computer... merely because every time i see someone walking down the street, or in the mall...

"HEY CAN YOU FIX MY COMPUTER???"

Fvck No.

Don't conveniently blame it on that. Face it, you're antisocial because you are.

Excuses.

I would say the majority are anti-social.

I'm not a fan of clubbing and stuff like that, but I wouldn't say I'm completely anti-social.

I have friends and I have no problems talking to people I don't know. (I just don't tell them that I fix computers, because that rarely works out in my favor)

More shy than anti-social, in my experience.

I was very shy.. until I hit about 19 or so.

I'm still feel the shyness, but I don't let it get to me.

One of the IT guys where I work may be the nicest, friendliest most personable guys at my job. Ive also met some weirdo IT guys who had no idea about anything outside of a computer. I dont think you can stereotype the job that easily.

Okay, I?m on IT and the people that I know are in no way anti-social, well according to some standards, they are just more picky than the rest of the people about who is at their side, I think that it have more to do with the need of a bigger personal space, jajajajaja!, just 5 anti-social ITs in a group of let say? 30. So there are, not most, but there are.

anti-social != (introverted || Shy)
Exactly. Antisocial behaviour is behaviour against the rules of society. A teenager vandalising a car or a bankrobber are both antisocials.

Being shy, introverted, preferring to be alone, or non-social does not mean antisocial.
