Are moderators supposed to moderate threads they're actively posting in?

Referring specfically to this thread, I see Perknose posted a disagreement with the OP, only to lock the thread a few posts later? This seems to go against the posted guidelines.

Derek had said we could do so in "emergency" situations. There were no other P&N mods on-line at the time, so I acted.

CAD has lodged a formal complaint, and it is now under active review in the Bat Cave. Derek will no doubt be involved in its resolution.
