Are match books allowed on commercial flights?

TallBill

Lifer
I'm pretty sure that a person can bring match books on a flight, but there is a limit. I wanna bring back some osama match books.

They only allow them on carry on because they are hard to detect.

Lighters are now banned. Since smoking is no longer allowed on any flights, why bother carrying a source of ignition? Of course I can think of many other (allowed) sources of ignition but that is another discussion for another board!

Despite what the rules really are, some TSA screeners are a lot more picky then others, or just uninformed. Maybe mailing them back is a better idea?

I don't get how mailing match books would be any different than having them in checked baggage. You can't get to checked baggage anyway, so it's not like it's going to be an issue.

USPS will not mail them. Perhaps I can put them in my bag that will be put on a ship. I wonder if customs would allow them that way.

I had 4 lighters in my carry on just last weekend. They never said a word about them.
