Are Live Forums Possible?

Is there a software that shows you a forum in a "Live" way? For example, you'll look at the ATOT root, and the threads along with the "Replies", "Views", and "Last Posts" update automatically whenever there's a change. Is this thing possible?

Well yeah, that would be sort of like an organized chat room.

I suppose it would be possible.. you'd have to use java or maybe flash or something to have it updated live, instead of just refreshing an html page..

Possible yes, probably not feasible though for something like the size of these forums.

you'd have to offload a lot to the clientside and have that check or updates, will cause a lot of traffic tho.
