looking at any screen for a period of time will deteriate your eyes, common sense. however, i dont think lcd is as bad as crt because they have less light aiming at your eyes.

Although I have never spend extended periods of time on an LCD, it seems to me that most people agree CRTs cause more eye strain.

LCD is defiantly a lot better for your eyes than CRT. I used to get terrible cases of red eye when using a CRT if I used the PC for extended periods of time, but in the year or so I have had an LCD I have not suffered the problem once, I noticed it stopped the day I made the change. Some people argue that a CRT with very high refresh rates of like 100+ is what?s needed to stop that sort of problem but I cant really attest to that my old CRTs ran at about 85hz. Which is supposed to be the max the human eye can tell the difference anyway, after that its meant to all look the same.

There is also the radiation to consider, CRT's are proven to put out more radiation than LCDs. With a CRT you have 3 powerful electron guns firing onto the screen (which is in front of your face) constantly. With an LCD its just little pixels turning themselves on and off really fast.
