Are Kumho tires any good?

Well, i blew out my second tire in 3 months and i really don't feel like paying out the nose for another michellin. I'm thinking of replacing all 4 tires anyway cuz they're pretty worn. Tirerack has these tires from a company called 'kumoho' which i've never heard of, but they're super cheap compared to thsoe dastardly michelins http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+HP4+716&vehicleSearch=true&partnum=155HR6HP4

Anyone have good experiences with this brand/model or do you guys think i should stick with michellin?

I believe they're more popular everywhere else but in the US. I can't remember the site, but someplace has personal reviews/opinions for just about every tire ever made. Google it.

I went Dunlop SP8000S to the 712's...pretty equal to me, better hydroplane resistance I thought.

My last tire was the Yoko AVS100....I liked that one as well.

Considering that the law of depreciating return treats them favorably, you still do get what you pay for.

That means that they're cheap, but Michelins/Bridgestones/Goodyears/etc. which cost twice as much aren't necessarily twice as good.

Thanks for the replies guys...

I had 17" Z rated Kumho Ecsta's on my Audi A4 before I traded her in, I liked 'em. Decent performance at an inexpensive price.

Actually, i see quite a bit of kumho distributors around so. cal. So I guess a lot of so. cal. people, where driving is their lives, have these tires. And I'm sure no tire company would run the risk of making bad tires and getting a lawsuit over it. I think they're cheap because they're manufactured in Korea.

Think hyundai, kia....they're cheap because hands-on labor is pretty cheap over there.

I donno i'm pretty sure i'm wrong...don't qoute me...just throwing something out there that might be usefull so you can gain some leads on your research of tires wooooo 🙂 good rucks finding that right tire! and give us a review after u've installed them heh

I have the Ecstas, and can say they feel better on both wet and dry pavement than the Goodyear Eagles that they replaced, at around half the price.

For whatever that is worth to you.

i will probably get these of the falken azenzis 512s next to replace my Bridgestone Potenza S03s. My S03s are like $170 each and i can't afford to pay for 4 of them! so....4 falken or kuhmos. i know a lot of the wrx driver's out there have kumhos for their affordability and performance.
