are keyboards designed to withstand a cup of coffee?

uh-oh. i would guess ruined. but not sure. ask baffled2 she should know if it can withstand coffee or pepsi! 😀

My guess is that you killed it. You should get one of those folding keyboard things. I saw one at Radio Shack the other day. It actually seemed like it would be usable. When I first saw pictures of them, I thought "There's no way anyone could use one of those." It was actually a lot like using a laptop keyboard that was full size.

Darnit, you took my line!

mmmuuuahahhahahaha too slow sucker! 😀

It depends on how much liquid got into it. I say, unplug it right now, rinse it off really good, and let it dry for a day or so. Maybe it's not dead.

lol, no they are not... trust me on this, I've probably killed more keyboards than you guys have killed kittens !

now THAT is not true. i mean for some of the guys here. not me. i wasn't talking about myself. i meant others. yeah others. 😱

probably will be ok as long as you dismantle the keyboard completely to make sure no coffee seeps between contacts and slowly corodes stuff.

<___ has learned lesson from 3 dead keyboards🙂

Well, my microsoft natural keyboard has survived through Water, Root Beer, and Corona.

The key is to freek out and unplug it right away, then get that sucker open and start flushing it with water (Note: Mine is not printed circutboards, it is a plastic etched with circuits). Then dry it off with a towel, and let air dry for several hours.

The sugar in coffee and soft drinks does more damage than the liquid itself, at least on the older keyboards.
When a user called me and told me that they spilled coffee in their keyboard, my first question would be "Do you use sugar"?
