Are iPhone 3GS and iPhone 6 CPU same ?

The iPhone 6 has what Apple calls A8 CPU but doesnt the 3GS also have A8 CPU ? The one is 3GS is 600mhz but one in iPhone 6 is 1.4Ghz so is it overclocked version of 3GS CPU ? Also anyone have some idea what kind of performance increase can be expected going from 3GS to iPhone 6 in terms of CPU,GPU, RAM etc ? Thanks.

Apple 3GS uses a Cortex-A8, which has little in common with Apple A8.

You can check Wikipedia for the raw specs.

Going from the 3GS to the iPhone 6 will net you about a 35x CPU and a 125x GPU improvement. Also it has more memory, faster buses, et cetera.

Apple seriously screwed up their naming. The Cortex-A8 is much, much slower than the Cyclone CPU used in Apple's A8.
