I don't think venom is dangerous if you eat it, assuming you don't have any ulcers or other damage in your digestive tract; to my knowledge, venom is only dangerous if it gets in your blood or eyes.

Not really. Try eating some Pufferfish that hasn't been prepared properly and see what happens
Pufferfish are poisonous, not venomous. ;)
(Yes, there is a difference.)

(Or so I'd wager.)

** - This is according to a book I have on snakes, which specifies that there's a difference between venom and poison. Poison is toxic if ingested or if it gets in the blood; venom must get into the bloodstream.

Poison can also go through the skin (as in absorbed).

I believe there are only three venomous lizards in the world. I'm not aware of any being poisonous, although some have extremely dangerous bacterias living in their mouths, so their bites are still extremely deadly.

I ate iguana once when I was a kid, visiting my Dad in Mexico. The only thing I remember is the dish was very spicy. I wouldn't go out of my way to try it again, but I wouldn't turn it down if someone just served it to me.

between op :
Screw iguana.. eat vegetables..
This is the mango season go and buy some green mangoes or yellow mangoes ...
green ones go great with salt and the yellow ones are great with sugar..
You can like cut the yellow mango into pieces and sugar it and then put it in a freezer for a hour or two .
its simply is great.

There are many types of mangoes here in india.
but my favourite is called "bangina palli" its in our local tongue.

ahhhhhh sumer .. so many different fruits to choice from!!

They are, but contain some rad so you'll at some point need to take your rad-x to offset it.

I saw Andrew Zimmern eat some.

What doesn't he eat?

Durian ;)
(Well he at least hates that)

There are a lot worse things than durian if you ask me. I don't really like it but it's really not bad. I can think of other food that I actually hate. The smell is nothing.
