Hi guys - I'm going to just order my first PC in 30+ year of building them. I'm old and retarded retired and don't feel like messing with it. Anyways wondering if I can OC it. Specs ok? 5600x + 3060 ti?

I play Path of Exile, Doom, Resident Evil etc

Mostly, Path though when seasons start up. I'm coming off an old Sandy @5Ghz and GTX 670! Been awhile obviously and finally feeling it now.

If the budget allows, I might step up to 5800x and 3070./3070ti. SWince you upgraded so seldom, it would be worth it.

Edit: and you can't build you own ?

I agree with Mark, the 8 core 5800X would be a good investment if you don't upgrade often. The GPU though you may have to take what you can get.

Also, I am not sure how much control the HP UEFI setup will give you, but I woudn't count on much. If you want to skip the building and have someone else do it, I would still recommend you have a good local shop build you one, or you could order a custom build online. Reason for this is that most custom builders will use standard retail parts, where OC is possible, but HP may not. They may not even use standard connectors/form factors. I would look this up before going with the HP or any other pre-built.

Thanks guys...Parts are a problem no? I went to newegg and they don't have anything. Plus the idea of paying over double retail price is a real pain the in ass. Seems these PC manufacturers have not inflated like the parts resellers. For example just the Ryzen 5600x and 3060ti at amazon are what I'll pay for whole computer from HP is... about $1500... So I'm getting a case, PS, MOBO, 1TB SSD, 16GB DDR 4, KB, mouse for free. And most important labor free.

Yeah I can build - my current is almost 10 years old and still running strong with CPU and GPU water cooling. I did that for silence. 120mm fans spin at 500 rpm over a radiator instead of high rpm air cooling, I could do it again but I'm not paying more for the pleasure.

I'll take a look at suggested parts - thanks again really helps as I'm out of the loop. Filthy casual now. All I do is fish and play with my grandkids.

Video cards yes, they are in short supply and are generally more expensive. Other parts not so much IMO. One thing you could do, is do 5800X build and reuse your GPU for now till you get a good deal on a new card. I even noticed that Amazon has a killer deal on the 5800X. Finally, since you would likely keep this for a while, may as well go with 32GB of RAM.

OK seems bad idea, but I decided to buy a used GTX 1070 off ebay until prices chill out on these things. Good thing is, it comes with a EK waterblock which is $150 normally for $400. So really a better than 1660 super cost me like $250. Should hold me over until these video prices get back to retail. I only game at 1080p.

Then I went to good ole newegg for
asrock b550 mobo
5600x
32 GB ram
M.2 SSD samsung 970 evo

for like $650

i'm in my old coolermaster which has 360mm rad. Can use old CPU block all for about $1050 total.

Let the overclocking begin!

I ran that old sandy 2600k at 5ghz for 10 years! Let's see if we get another 10 out of this 5600x.:)

I think you will find that the 5600x is already pretty close to its top speed, not much overclocking headroom on the 5000 series.

But good luck.

You will get a bigger performance boost tweaking your ram settings than you will overclocking.
