Are honorary societies worth it?

Yeah, there aren't any club meetings or anything, it's purely a resume booster. I know the Accounting honor society has meetings, career placement, has some guest speakers, so involvement in that is probably more worth my time in the end.

In truth, I don't have the $30 to spare at this point, and the Omicron Delta Epsilon just doesn't look good enough on my resume to jsutify it. IMO, at least, the scholarships and Dean's list probably look good enough.

I got an invitation to join Golden Key a couple of years ago, but the membership alone was $80. They offered scholarships and a couple of other things I don't remember, but I chose not to join.

My field is premodern Chinese and Korean philosophy and literary theories. I doubt they would offer me any scholarship for that.

I believe the qualification was for top 15% of my graduating class. So I guess it was quite an honour, but I didn't think it was worth the 80 bucks. I mean, if it really is worth adding to my resume, I'd put top certain % of my graduating class on my resume instead.
