Are higher resolution upgrades usually always worth the money?

Yeah, but it does a terrible job of it compared to something like Android.

That is my major beef with small high resolution displays, Windows lacks resolution-independent continual resize. I hope that is on the menu for Windows 10.

Windows scaling also borks a bunch of games. First, it causes a lot of menus click boxes to be completely off from where the icon shows up. Secondly it causes some games to render at a resolution based on your scaling. So when you have a 4K native monitor and run 150% or 200% scaling some games end up rendering at 1440p or 1080p instead of 4K depending on what your scaling % is in Windows, which means you have to turn off Windows scaling every time before you play a game.

A few examples I've found was Ryse: Son of Rome renders at 1440p instead of 4K if you have 150% scaling on, also most games using GeDeSato downsample to 1440p with scaling on.

UHD is really at it's limit at 28" really it seems better suited for 32-46" screens. TV size.

1920x1080 really needs a 24" screen.

It is amazing that cell phone manufacturers can scale things to work properly on a 5" 1080p screen but Microsoft cannot.
