good for you.

You're a IT guy so you're supposed to help me when I ask you it's your job. To be friendly or not it does not really matter.

SVC is not a big company.
Same guy from SVC I spoke over the phone told me that SVC is a very small business.

And you're repeating yourself.

I put those who are professional at a higher priority than those who act like a little kid when they want something. Do you work in a corporation?

Where did I indicate otherwise?
And you're repeating yourself.
If you really don't understand why I'm repeating myself then the reiteration is truly necessary.

Not usually. I've found that simple negotiation and professional communication is very often effective. Most of the time I can figure out quickly why the other party or parties involved are saying what they are, and determine what the best response would be to get my point across in ways they will understand. Star Trek: TNG taught me to use diplomacy.;)

Hi jodhas,

You are right and the other guys are mostly wrong, althought not entirely. I can see how the owner might have gotten irritated when he thought rolling over you was going to work, as it usually does, and then had to deal with you further. The fact that you were so obsequious initially set him on the wrong tack. Your commenters are not so much SVC suckups as people in a similar position who also are used to meting out justice as they see fit, to people who have no recourse. And probably most people SVC deals with are clueless, so the owners assumption that you were is understandable, if offensive.

The owners reference to your threat was also a threat to you, as I'm sure you recognized. He wanted you to get the idea that if you squealed on him, you would suffer for it.

But at least you got answer to your emails. Not me.

Here's mine:

order # 17425

I ordered a:
Green 18" Dual Device ATA133/100 IDE Rounded Cable at $4.49, #RC18HD2-GRN,

but I got a green 18" single floppy cable which seems to be #RC18FD1-GRN at
$2.99. It's any easy mistake to make, but the IDE cable is what I actually need.
How do I get what I ordered?

(This was one thing in an $80 order.) That's it. Maybe its unprofessional. I didn't mean it that way, and I don't see it. That and 4 more emails over ten days got no reply. When I orginally hit Anandtech with my story, I got a dozen comments about how wonderful SVC was (before my thread was locked), including several who had just sent emails and got good responses. That's why the emails from me to SVC went to five. When I speculated about why no response to me, people thought I was paranoid and inquired if my "foil hat" was in place. (with the URL to the foil hat site.) I still wonder why people got responses while I was getting none. I sent an email from an alien address to my own to check out my address.

It was not a big deal. I just wanted to settle it. It didn't seem like it would be hard. I figure 99.9% of people who have a problem, just let it go. It is more trouble than it is worth, and SVC knows it.

A lot of the unbelievably cheap stuff SVC sells is marginal. The customers know it, and that level is good enough for many situations. That HS you bought probably comes with a lot of different clips that the Taiwan or Chinese manufacturer picks up from various sources. People that buy the thing probably are willing to adjust (bend) the clip if needs be. That's an SVC bargain. They don't intentionally rip you off: you just have to understand what the place is about.

Hope this bucks you up jodhas, because you are not unique.

jodhas and KF, maybe you should post reviews at Resellerratings.com indicating your experiences with SVC (if you haven't already).

Off-topic, but I work in the IT field too, and I assure you that when I have a better computer to hand down, or a decent monitor to find a user for, the cooperativeness of the candidates definitely crosses my mind as I decide who gets the goodies this time around :p

they can move laterally, that is, parallel to the surface of the CPU. they are only secured vertically, perpendicular to the CPU. if you look, there is nothing preventing the heatsink from moving laterally as the clip only pushes the HS down onto the CPU. of course, the HS should not move THAT much. the ones that are bolted on should not be able to move at all.

They were selling the Vantec Stealth 80mm fans advertising them for at same dB level as the Panaflos. When I got the fans, it was way too loud, 3 of the Panaflos were quieter than the Vantec.

ok, proof your a freakin moron. they advertise the db rating the MANUFACTURER states for their product. u think stores measure fan db's and all other pertinent stats themselves? good lord man, are you a snot nosed 12 year old? you know enough about modding to know what a panaflow is, yet you don't even bother to check a review of a vantec stealth? looking at stats the vantec has a higher rated db, on a scale that isn't linear either. its also moves more air:p

u are a bitch. ur emails only make me want to hold you down and punch you in the face repeatedly.

consider that most of the posters in this thread probably want to do this too.

is your cpu burning? no! its freakin working, get over it.

you wasted how much time over a heatsink that works?

both my retail amd xp 2000+ and celly 1.1a Tually retail heatsinks have some lateral movement. i always try to wiggle em after i put em on to smear the heatsink paste around a bit and to make sure its level. i guess intel and amd have their heads up their asses.

huge heavy heatsinks have huge super tight clips. small heatsinks dont always.

/me pulls out the folding chair and popcorn

This is exciting!

On topic, I must say that your emails, jodhas, were a bit immature and unprofessional. With that said, the same thing goes for his. He should not have responded in such a tone in his emails. I can understand that you were upset and wanted to complain, so I guess I can give you some slack, but if I were in your position, I would have tried to have been more polite and calm. And he should have remained calm and professional in his last email, but he did explain it to you in his previous emails and was probably tired of your insinuations and manners.

Every heatsink I have ever installed, with the exception of the Alpha PAL8045, have wiggled and twisted on the CPU. The reason for "bolt-on" heatsinks such as the Alpha is NOT to minimize "wigglage," but to ensure the heatsink stays on, since the little socket tabs are notoriously breakable. The fact that they don't wiggle is just a nice bonus.

i dont understand why you would open all the heatsinks if you are not happy with one.
