Its a hamburger sammich but Americans are just to lazy to say its full name.

yes, I believe hamburgers were first eaten, and very popular, as the meat patty in gravy. Anti-immigrant sentiment and war fever were high in 1917, so Americans started calling hamburgers salisbury steaks (because Freedom Fries). Wasn't something like the Patty Melt the first hamburger sandwich, and that was supposedly crafted some time in the 20s or 30s?
