Are ELSA 56k modems any good

A friend wants a cheap modem just so they can buy stuff over the net. Will ELSA modems cut it? I should think they will be fine, but you guyz may know otherwise.

I have an ELSA Microlink 56K PCI..
It's by far the fastest and most reliable one I've had.
