Are earlier Honda S2000(2001-2003) easily stolen ??

Long story short, I've had 2 different 99-00 Civis Si that was stoeln 3 times.
I've always said to myself that my next car will be a S2000.
Not really looking for one right now but I'm always keeping my eye out for a deal.
I found this car: S2000
Has the front, side and rear lips that I really like(unmodded S2000 are kinda plain).
Love the red seats and I can deal with the yellow color.
KBB "good" for this car is $11800 and if I can talk him down closer to $10,000, I just might buy it.

My biggest question is does this car suffer the fate as the earlier Accords and Civics ??

Any car is easily stolen by any decent, skilled thief. For security, you'll probably want an engine immobilizer installed.

As for the convertible factor, that makes stuff inside easier to steal for unskilled thugs.

It's a HONDA performance car. Hondas are the most stolen line of vehicles but I'm sure since there are less S2k's out there they are not stolen as much as Civics and Accords. A Civic Si is stolen cus all the fanboys jizz over Si parts. An S2k doesn't come with a kill switch stock???

Better price out the cost of that soft top repair. $500 is low. It's very rare that you can just sew up the tear and be good.

I'd look for one that is at least a 2002. They started putting glass in the top instead of plastic that can fog and crack.

Thats why I think I can get it closer to $10K

This one is a 2002.

Any car can be stolen by a determined thief. You should put an Alarm, Ignition & or Fuel Kill in, but this will only discourage your average Joy Rider type of thief. If they want it, they will take it, with a tow truck, flatbed, forklift .. I had a 1985 RX7GSL-SE with alarm & ign kill and it stopped about 8 attempts by joy riders to get it. It was stolen in NYC in 1992 with about 130K on it ... So I know it was not just driven away.

The reason I posted this was because the Civics were very very easy to steal.
All you have to do is break the metal bar in the ignition switch and you can turn the car on with anything.
This was a major flaw with the early Civics and Accords.
I know Honda have fixed this problem with newer models.
I'm asking if the S2000 has some type of flaws like this.

I know if they want to steal your car, they will steal it.
My last Civic has an alarm that kills the switch and they still stole it.
