Are DVI-I and DVI-D compatible?

I have a Radeon 9700 pro, and I was looking at the 1800fp, but it says it connects DVI-D but the radeon does DVI-I, are these the same?

DVI-D is 24pin pure digital
DVI-I is 24pin digital with 5 extra pins for analog.

IIRC you should have no problem connecting a DVI-D (Should have come with the monitor) cable into the DVI-I of the Radeon
But I'm not 100% possitive.

Dug is correct.

I had my 9700 Pro connected to my 1800FP w/ no issues at all. It is a beautiful combination BTW. 😉

How is it for DVD's and games, John?

I've got 20/20 vision and have very strict guidelines when it comes to image quality/clarity when working with my computer systems. I am thoroughly pleased with the 1800FP, and I even bought a second one for my GF's pc. I don't notice any ghosting in games or dvd movies, and the quality is visually stunning. Even thought XP ClearType doesn't function properly on the 1800FP, I consider the text quality to be razor sharp in "normal" mode.

Two thumbs up!

ClearType works best at some monitor settings and not others.
I think it sould be off on lower than 1024x? Otherwise it can look
sort of bold.

Cleartype works astoundingly well on my SDM-N80. Of course, that's only at native resolution. I am running a DVI-D cable from my Ti4200 from Leadtek. Very impressive to say the least.

I agree with you. I now watch DVD's on this monitor because it looks so much better than my TV (all I need is a good sound card and sound system). But, I was never a real big cleartype person, and I agree text is razor sharp on this monitor in regular mode. Cleartype actually bothers me on any monitor, I dont like AA text, I like it to be sharp.
