Only buy a Dell if you know you're getting a deal, such as the $750 off 1500 coupon, or the military discounts . . . otherwise you're paying too much.
Dells do *NOT* go to Iraq and back with zero problems.
1) they're not ruggedized
2) they're not even semi ruggedized
3) they're not qualified to MIL-STD-810F and MIL-STD-461E
4) they're not qualified to section 25 of mil-specs for security (read: CAC card readers)
Dell notebooks are *not* meant for any sort of harsh conditions.
Saying that Dells go to Iraq and back with zero problems is hilarious. I've got letters from military bases and national guard stations around the country all stating that Dells SUCK in the middle east. They don't withstand being dropped or having things dropped on them because they're not semi-ruggedized (read: MIL-STD-910F/MIL-STD-461E). They don't withstand the dust that gets everywhere over there because they're not ruggedized (read: fanless design). They get screwed up pretty fast and every single person that I work with in the military says they refuse to buy Dells anymore. Dell makes a weak, insecure, fragile laptop that's not meant for the military.
Let me know when Dell makes a semi-rugged or ruggedized notebook so I can take them and compare them to Panasonic and Getac. I will be sure to prepare myself for laughter when that happens.
Outside the safety of no-transported home/office use, Dell notebooks are utter sh|t.
