Are CD wallets really that bad?

I have a ton of cds/dvds that I store in wallets. Now, I've been told that the best way to store discs is using either spindles, jewel cases, or Tyvek sleeves. Wallets supposedly warp your discs.

Is this true and should I really switch away from wallets?

warp your discs? i don't think so... not any more than any of the other solutions, anyway.

its very hard to break a cd by warping it...

you can scratch them up pretty good too, the only discs that i know that are a bit sensitive are older dvd-rs when there scratched before you write to them

I've read that some wallets scratch the CD because of the rough material in them, but that's about it. I have a Case Logic one and my CDs are fine.

seriously... thats crap. Ive had cd's in wallets for over 5 years... nothing.
that wallet has seen alot of abuse as well.
there is very little to worry about there

They aren't as good as cases. The only ones really good were the old Mead Laserline Flip Disc. It's only important if you, you know, plan to keep the CDs for a LONG TIME, and still use them. Nowadays, you're safer making TY copies for such purposes, though.

Same here. Case Logic for years and everything still A-OK. Even that 7 year old Verbatim audio CD-R is still fine after all this while.

Had a Case Logic case for about 4 years now, no damage to the CD's whatsoever, don't worry dude.

Cheaper wallets may damage, once ina way because they tend to stick onto to the CD surfaces. Case Logics are good. But warping, nope, not unless someone puts them in a drier.

I call mine albums, cause that's the size they are (i mean compared to photo album).

They work great for me.

Jewel cases & sleeves are annoying to deal with.
