If Canadians are Americans, then so are people from Venezuela, Bolivia, Argentina, etc.

Yes, North American, but as someone said earlier that is as far as it gets. You Americans have quite the stigma attached to your name now, and although I am fond of the good majority of you, it's still an insult to be called American.
