You do have to buy the boxes, packing tape, on the other hand is free. I ship stuff all the time.

I think they are free. But they have priority written all over them so you can't use them for other purposes.

Nothing around here is free unless I go into a business (a grocery store, officemax, best buy) and they give me a box for free! :p

priority/express mail boxes are 'free' but you can only use them for those two services.

Not here.

You must be thinking of the ReadyPost boxes.

The standard boxes are always free.

My post office charges for boxes.

However you can get them free online so I just orded a bunch and then I am set for the next 10 years :)

The priority boxes should be free, but you have to ask at the counter. They have some "ready-ship" boxes on displays in the lobbies and stuff, but this stuff is for sale, not free.

You can also request boxes from the USPS website and they will deliver them to you in a week or so... but they usually give them to you in bulk. Can't get just one.

yeah.. they are free when you pay for priority. You can totally factor that into shipping cost analysis for online sales :)

The ones around me have never cared and just leave them out. I walk in, grab 4-5 boxes at a time and just walk out... As long as you use them for their purpose (Priority Mail), its free.

Not anyone.

People were abusing them to much by using them for UPS and Fedex.

See the good do suffer the bad.

I don't care though. Serves them right.
