are bolts and screws in car engines different than regular hardware bolts/screws

ok took the valve cover off of my car, and at the end put it back on with the screws and bolts. The last bolt just snapped. I went to Home Depot and found me a similar 6mm bolt. Will this work or do I need something different since auto engines create so much heat. thanks

I doubt that valve cover screws are special. You should be okay.

The valve cover bolts are just standard. Some bolts are different based on where they are and what stresses they must put up with.
