Built a machine in 2001 with biostar board, wife still using and never a problem with the board. I updated this year with a new build including an MSI board. There is value to be had in these boards if you read real reviews and not just regurgitated noob stuff.

I've built with a few Biostar boards lately, given their price/value point when bought at MicroCenter in combo with Intel cpus. The last was a TZ77A, which was a quite nice board...solid, no hiccups, just worked.

I always chuckle when I see comments about reliability, etc. being anecdotal because in the consumer space, ALL reliability reports compiled are based on anecdotal evidence. The only way to have actual reliability reporting would be to access the manufacturer's warranty data, which no one in the consumer space can ever do, being it's closely guarded data by the manufacturer. So we end up depending on pure anecdotal data. But such data isn't irrelevant or wrong simply because it's anecdotal or owner reported, it just may reflect biases imposed by the consumer involved, which has to be evaluated.

Until we can have full access to manufacturer warranty data, anecdotal data is all we have.

I've got the same MB and have had no issues with it.

With the horrible experience I have had with Biostar motherboards, I would stay away from them. I've had to RMA two in the past, as well as a couple of my friends have had to RMA Biostar motherboards at least once. These weren't their budget motherboards either.

Now I stick with Asus, ASRock and Gigabyte. I don't use Gigabyte boards too much, but I've been satisfied with the one that I've had.

Actually, I do have a beef with Biostar. They owe me $10 on a rebate that they acknowledge receiving and approving, but the online rebate system says it is still awaiting payment... after over a year.

Same here but it's been 5 months instead of a year.

Biostar is awesome. I have a couple of their boards in use, MSI as well. I'd only ever consider paying more if I needed to buy a board with more features, really. Only flaky motherboard I've ever had was made by ECS.

Would recommend Biostar any time. But like others have said, shop by individual board and by reviews, not by brand as all brands have good and bad ones.

I've used Biostar exclusively for all of the builds I've done for the past 5 years or so. Never had a problem with any of them. In fact, they are the first manufacturer I look at if I need an upgrade.

As for rebates... I don't trust them, regardless of who they are from.

well the deal is long over now.

It is good some of you have had good experience.

With motherboards there are so many to choose from the in the same price range. All I know is I want ATX and something with good features.

My last 2 boards have been micro, current only has 2 dimms.

I just picked up another TZ77XE4 at the local MC (along with a 2500K + bundle discount - manager override :) ). Love this board.

I got my friend a Biostar board AM3 and it works great.

MSI makes me nervous due to so many failures over the years.

so where in Canada are you located, Shepard?

don't go with that Biostar, however low the price is..
you sir are mistaken

they have gone a long way from their crap. I recommend their boards as much as I do with ASUS, in my opinion, ASUS has dropped down to biostar level and biostar has risen

lol, you were playing with toys 2 or 3 years ago, how could you know if Biostar has gone a long way or ASUS dropped quality?

As for me, I haven't used Biostar in 5-6 years, back then they had a reputation for being low quality stuff.

Phone the rebate processing company or the product seller. Biostar may have changed processors, but 2 years ago they were processing them in-house, and their online support and e-mail frequently didn't work. The product seller is liable if it made even the slightest mention of the rebate offer. Also people at bargain-hunting sights, such as Slickdeals and Fatwallet, may be of help since they typically have extensive experience with rebates.

Look at what this member said to me in pm.

gseoul52_334 Please turn to the loaded gun in your drawer, put it in your mouth, and pull the trigger,
blowing your brains out. You'll be doing the whole world a favor. Shitbag.

I would love to smash your face in until it no longer resembled anything human, lovely human.

Die painfully okay? Prefearbly by getting crushed to death in a
garbage compactor, by getting your face cut to ribbons with a
pocketknife, your head cracked open with a baseball bat, your stomach
sliced open and your entrails spilled out, and your eyeballs ripped
out of their sockets. Fucking bitch

Give him 1 anfraction point. VirGE

I really hope that you get curb-stomped. It'd be hilarious to see you
begging for help, and then someone stomps on the back of your head,
leaving you to die in horrible, agonizing pain. lovely human

Shut the fuck up f aggot, before you get your face bashed in and cut
to ribbons, and your throat slit.
