I overclocked to 650mhz core (at 1.375v, lower than the X1900XT's 1.45v stock) and 830mhz (1660mhz) RAM! The RAM is without loosened timings. With loosened timings, it goes past 900mhz easy. Obviously the X1900GT overclocks much better than the X1800XT, making it the better deal 🙂

HOLY SH!T !!!111!!11one11one!!1one

Are you friggin serious!?!? How the hell can you clock it that high? If all X1900GTs can OC that high, we might have a tie with the 7900GT.

The x1900GT is supposed to replace the X1800XT's price point. It just turns out that the X1800XT is still a bit faster in many titles and the price on it has dropped enough that it is still a better buy. They will be out of the channel soon and then the X1900GT will be the only part from ATI at that price point.

Well, I hope ATI "revives" the X1800XT once it finds out that the X1900GT is failing...

Wait...what the hell am I saying? I hope the X1900GT price drops!

why is everything blamed on driver problems, they need to learn how to program drivers if they want to sell video cards...

ill shut up now 😱

What driver problems? My X1900GT is faster than an overclocked 7900GTX 🙂

My 3dmark05 compare score. I used the 6.5 Chuck Patch (adds HDR+AA to OblivioN) drivers.

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2066152

I scored 11176, tying this entry. The run was untweaked save for a reboot. I can hopefully break 12k with some tweaking and AS5'ing the heatsink.

Yes, the X1900GT uses 1.4ns RAM. That doesn't stop it from clocking better than most XT and XTX cards in that area though 🙂 Remember I'm on stock air.

---

I don't know what driver problems you're talking about. The drivers are just great, no problems at all.

@aka1nas-The x1900 gt will the only thing in that segment for while. But after that ati will release RV570 and RV560.Thats to get rid of..err..i mean compete with the 7600 gt and the 7900 gt.
And along with those 2 new comers, there'll be the r580+ the thing thats meant to shut the 7900 gtx up.And maybe we'll see the gemini radeons too.

Not many people have the X1900GT, I guess? Well it's a great card, def better than the 7900GT in terms of performance (even OC performance!)

Are you using stock cooling with this OC? If not, which kind? Also, what are your memory core/IO voltages and temps? Thanks.

i would snatch one up iin a heart beat but i want 512 mb . i know many will say it doesnt do anynhting but in cod2 it does and i play that. i have water cooling too and i want to see if i can make it hit 700 core but i guess ill never know now. do they have overclock test results yet? ones with actual overclocks not Overdrive overclocks since that is just running stock voltage.

Sorry, but my Opteron 144 @ 2.68GHz and 7900GT at 531/1726 with single channel memory got 10K, I'm sure if I had a 7900GTX I would break 11.5K.

Oh man, all this praise of the X1900GT has really given me different opinions about it...

Damn, I didn't know ATI cards were good massive OCers... I thought NVIDIA was REALLY GOOD at OCing...

dang u havent played with or heard of x1800 xl? 500/500 stock some ppl can hit 700/ 750 with the right cooling average is like 625/650 but either way great overclocks.

Average OC for the XT cards (X1800XT and X1900XT) are 700/800

The XL cards are slightly lower. X1900GT does better at OCing than the X1900XT due to the reduced power consumption.

I have heard of the X1800XL but I didn't know ATI had some nice OC capabilities. Usually the big heatsink indicates that it needs a lot of cooling because it can get very hot so I assumed that it wasn't very good for OCing.

But this thread has overall changed the way I perceive ATI as a video card manufacturer!

Volt modded 7900GT's have been known to hit 12.5k+. I'd much prefer my 512MB X1800XT to a crippled X1900XT (called GT to draw 7900GT customers to ATI), the X1800 is probably cheaper to make too.

With what kind of cooling, and what kind of CPU/RAM? I'm still on stock cooling remember 🙂 I don't even have AS5! 🙁

I borrowed some AS5 from a friend today so I'll be testing it out again.

Air or water. As this thread kinda shows, not many people have X1900GT's (at least ppl that visit the Video forum recently). The very nice prices on X1800XT's and 7900GT's have swayed people towards them, along with slightly better availability.

If I still had my 7800GT's and was gonna buy a cheap upgrade i'd consider a X1900GT but probably end up with a X1900XT.

Ah I see.

Anyways, got some updates. I lapped the GPU heatsink and put on a fresh coat of AS5. New overclocks are: 720/863 at 1.425v/2.2v

The fan doesn't even need to run at max speed! I'm running it at about 50%-ish

CPU has also been AS5'ed, meaning now I break 3GHz easy. Settling on 3.08ghz due to RAM limitation at 220mhz (the CPU can go up to 3.14ghz)

Benchmarks soon! 🙂

EDIT:

Opteron 144 @ 8x342. 2x1GB @ 220mhz 2.5-3-3-7 1T. BBA X1900XT 256MB @ 1.425v/2.2v, 720/864 (ATI Tool timing OCed)

Basic tweaks run (restart computer, quit random stuff): 12059 3dmark05!!!
