I know this thread is kind of old, but I thought I would contribute.
I bought my x1900gt after my many headaches from the 9x drivers with my 7600gt. I got it from a sale at bestbuy for $200 (not too bad eh?).
Does everything I want it to. WOW on all maxed settings with my 1440x900 widescreen samsung. Also plays bf2, graw and other games that I play like a dream. I am very satisfied with it and I have a long history of videocards.

Likewise it is a good midrange card. I just can't stand it after owning an X1900XTX. My X1900XT coming in the mail, so I'll pass this card to a relative. Really though, for the price ATI beats ATI. Their X1900XT 256 MB would do better for a small premium over what you paid for it.

I'm completely satisfied with my IceQ3 X1900GT. I wasn't expecting a big gain over my previous X1800XL. But there is a big gain to be had. I overclocked the XL to 558/1200 and scored 3218 in 3D06. Stock the XL scored 2800 or so. The GT I have, stock it scored 3850 about, and overclocked to 650/1440 it scored a little over 4100 in 3D06. I can tell it runs smoother in pixel heavy games also, and the cooling is superior in every way imaginable to the XL.

Edit: Forgot to mention this overclock on the GT is on stock volts.

Just running ATITool's 3D view at 575/600 (stock), I'm getting up to 95 C with the fan at 100%.

The IceQ3 stock cooling at fan 100% doesn't go above 44 c at load, and 38 idle. With fan at 50% the idle is 45 and load is 57
