As the title states, Ive searched pricegrabber, pricewatch google Etc.. Does anyone know of a vendor that still has any Super Socket 7 boards for sale?? Or even a vendor who specializes in older/refurb equipment??

Thanks

Yes, I found a VA-503+ (I used to have several of those) on ebay. Question is, why do you want a socket 7 board ? You can get a ECS K7S5A or other inexspensive motherboard with An Athlon CPU for under $100 ? The 503 with shipping was $40 (not over yet), and the other ones with a 450 cpu were $75 or so with shipping, so it seems not to be worth trying to find an old one. If you have some reason, please state it, and maybe we can suggest a better alternative.

I see your point totaly, The reason I need a socket 7 is because 1. The gateway desktop case has a proprietary 200w power supply 2. My wife likes her gateway case. 3. the board currently installed is ss7 with a 500 k62. I have a Tbird 650 lying around but I dont think the PS would hold up and since she needs her computer on a daily basis I dont want to risk it going on her. Those of you with wives with computers who are very picky about them working would understand 🙂

Don't have a wife right now, but I did, and I understand where you are. A suggestion however from an experienced ex-husband, tell her that you have to buy a new case because you can't fix the old one up, and find one of those new"sexy" cases with light blue clear over the front, or any other case you can find that she wants. I on the other hand could never find a woman that would have 9 PC's in a house. Being a bachelor does have advantages.

If the power supply is proprietary, it may well be using a proprietary connector, and the case also might not be able to take a standard (AT or ATX) form factor motherboard. That means that unless you can find a specific replacement model Gateway motherboard for your specific PC (expen$iv?), you're probably going to need to go the whole new case / PSU / motherboard / processor route. 🙁

Actually Everything is standard exept the PS. I put the current MB CPU combo in. The mb is just starting to go flaky.
