How did you manage your time and what not? What were your school hours and what were your work hours?

I am, working at an isp/telco. Time management isn't that bad, you just don't have any freetime. Can't manage whats not there. :D Taking IST classes for at a university. They may not be hard classes but the work can be time consuming.

I usually do class from like 8-12 and then work from then to 8 or so. It varies depending on the day/semester.

I did for four years. I took about 12-15 hours of class a semester and worked about 35 hours a week. During the summers if I didn't take classes, I would work two full time jobs if I could. First thing you realize is you aren't going to get a 4.0 doing this, but employers will respect the fact you could do school and work at the same time.

Took 12-15 SH the previous 2 semesters and usually worked 8-5, five days per week. Depending upon required tasks, some work weeks involved up to 45 hours per week. I'm on salary, but have very understanding management as far as school.

Most classes began between 5:30 - 6 pm and ended about 9:30 pm. Research papers and homework are usually completed on Saturday or Sunday. I take good notes in class, wakeup around 5:30 am and study for an hour or so daily. For some of the science classes, I study a little during lunch because I tend to forget equations.

Still find time to go out shooting with friends, work on my scoot/cars/truck/yard, watch sports, drink beer, pay attention to the old lady or rant on ATOT.

Can you recommend to me how to take good notes and keep them orginized? I often times mess up because I can't figure out what goes with what after I'm done taking notes.

school hours varied but were usually between 7-1, approximately 18-20 hours per week. I had work from 2-10. Usually did homework and studying at night or at school during the slower classes, or sometimes even at work. It is difficult to do, especially when it comes to getting enough sleep after pulling all-nighters for big assignments and stuff, going to school, then going to work straight.

On the positive side though, Ive saved up almost enough 90% of the money to payoff my student loans.

Don't write down everything the professor says. Most of what they lecture about is in the book. I usually follow along with my book open in class, and write down anything the prof. says that is not in print. That way, come test time if you have read the material and done the homework, you just have to review your notes and you are set. Some people like to write down everything because they say it helps them remember, but in my experience you miss more of what is being lectured on because you are concentrating on note-taking what is already in the text.

On a related note, get a cheap PDA or something that you can keep track of everything in. I was stupid because I put off buying a PDA until the last week of school, but was really useful in that week I used it.

best way to take notes is to not sleep during class, and that means you need to keep a regular sleeping schedule everyday, depending on how many credits/classes your taking your best bet is to try to make friends in the classes your taking, this will help you when you occasionally miss class thorugh your hectic schedule so you could get hte notes from them the days you might miss. Also a good organization technique is to read 1 chapter ahead of whats going on in lecture this way when the prof is lectuing you will arleady know what he is talking about sorta and it wont seem like a foreign language.

38-42 hours a week. I used to work at BestBuy... now I work at Krispy Kreme -it's a lot less stressfull. I have been a full time student carrying 16-18 hours per semester at a Community College (transferring next semester). My schedule from last semester was wake up at 4am, work at 5, off at 2, nap, class from 5/6-10pm, bed, up at 4 to do it again.

What I usually do is highlight the main points of what the prof or instructor says. I try to read the material in the books before hand. Then I'll go back through and reference the prof's main points in the book. I'll make page numbers next to my notes. Also, I've learned that it depends upon the class. Some profs use overheads or write on the board for the liberal arts stuff. Usually, this indicates test or quiz-related material.

For math/science/programming classes, I literally copy whatever is displayed on an overhead or the board. Then I work the sample problems in the book. You see, I flunked out at Kentucky in 1980 while on scholarship because I was very irresponsible at the time. After putting up with a class here and there for 20 years (Army), I swore that I'd never let that happen again. Have pretty much "sowed my oats", so to speak and am now committed to earning a PhD someday, probably in a liberal arts discipline.

I was one of two students earning an A last semester. My "secret" name for the class was "Germ Blanston". Urban Sociology. Excellent class and instructor, by the way.

I have been taking around 3-4 classes per semester. I just recently started taking more classes distance learning. It has made it alot easier to manage my time. Oh, and I am active duty in the Air Force.

My community college told me if I got my 2 year degree there all my classes would transfer to my university under the states articulation agreement. Well they did and I got 64 credit hours, but it still didn't eliminate all my general education classes which amount to something like 45 of 120 hours for my BS. So after taking 64 hours at a community college, roughly 36 were useful. I strongly suggest you work with your university and just take the classes that will apply to your gen-ed. The associates degree is really a waste of time and money.

I work around 50-60 hours per week and take anywhere from 12-18 credits at a 4 year university. Fortunately, a lot of those classes are online, and theyre on an accelerated schedule, so i can complete a semester in 8 weeks. That means i can take 2-3 classes per semester instead of 4-5. Come finals week, i only have to study for 2-3 finals. Makes things a LOT easier, though it sucks trying to cram an entire semester into 8 weeks. It kinda goes like this:

"ok welcome to database management, my name is mr. smith. Oh, be sure to study for the midterm coming up...oh, what....tomorrow, i guess."

Time is a bit of a premium, so i usually try to catch up on sleep on the weekends.

Yes I am... been doing it for over 2 years.

You just learn to manage your time... I wake up at 7:30am, get to work by 8:30am. Work until 12pm, get to class at 12:30pm. Leave class, go back to work at 2pm. Leave work at 6:30pm, arrive at night class at 7pm. Leave night class at 10pm for home. Sleep, do it again the next day. My school schedule is usually pretty flexible, so some semesters I only have classes 2 or 3 day a week. That way I can make up extra hours on my days that I don't have class for my work.

I have a mate who does 7 subjects at uni as he is studying for a dual undergraduate degree in Business and IT, and also a postgrad coursework diploma in strategic intelligence and holds down a job at nights too. He doesn't sleep much, but gets through ok.

I've known those who work full time and study full time. I think it takes a certain kind of person who has good time management skills and never procrastinates. They need to know how to efficiently use study time, class time, work time and leisure time. Personally I wouldn't even try, I like to procrastinate too much and sleep at least a full 8 hours every night.

I've often wondered how some of you guys work full time while going to school, it seems some of you have a lot of night classes.

When I was at uni my timetable just wouldn't allow it. I would sometimes have 3 lectures in day one 9-10 am, one 12-1 pm and one 5-6 pm.
