Are all major league sporting events rigged?

I may be naive but I don't think they are. Some of my friends have this elaborate conspiracy theory saying how all the owners coem together to decide who is going to win the championship in order to boost the local market following. I think that's a bunch of bull. If that is the case, why would the Lakers win three in a row a few years back. Why would the patriots win two out of three super bowls when there is already such loyal following in the New England area. I've tried to add a poll, not sure if it worked.

I don't believe sports are rigged. Human nature is such that if it were, word would get out well beyond the iffy at best conspiracy theories which pop up from time to time.

If you mean baseball, football, basketball, hockey, then no. There is a home-field "advantage" that the referees can control, but it is certainly not determined who is going to win. You could never do that without player involvement, and they could never keep it quiet.

I went to school with a guy who did jail time for throwing college basketball games in return for payoffs. If the games were rigged, then the gamblers would know, and sports betting would collapse.

if it happened i would be shocked, but then realize i guess it makes a lot of sense
i love sprots regardless.

I can see how you can rig a blow-out type of game, but what about games that come to the last play? What if the play doesn't work for some reason?

It's very possible. Big games = big money. Big money = big corruption. Big corruption = rigged games. Werd.

Why don't you explain how it could be done, then?

I don't believe they're rigged. . . but i can definitely see how one could pay a large amount of money to a player to have a bad game. If it was an impact player, that could affect the game big time. This is why the whole Pete Rose incident was so bad, if he had financial motives behind winnign or losing a game, that loses the spirit of sports competition.

Use your imagination. It can't be that difficult.

So you pay a star player to screw up. What if someone else steps it up and has a great game? Pro sports are way too fickle to be setup like that. You'd have to pay off the whole team.

What's the difference between no and some?

Are all major sports rigged?
*Yes -- All are rigged
*No -- None are rigged
*Some -- Some are rigged

If you say NO that means you're saying no not all major sports are rigged, which is the same as some being rigged.
