What are the differences between these two cards? Also are there any other cards made better from their manufacturer worth considering over these two? better memory, fan, cooler, etc?

Second one is OCed a tiny bit higher.

Core clock - 670MHz vs 678MHz
Memory clock - 1940MHz vs 1944MHz

EVGA 512-P3-N841-AR - clocks 670/1940
EVGA 512-P3-N845-AR - clocks 678/1944

Buy the cheaper one, the overclock on the second vs the first is a joke.

And they both will most likely overclcok higher than those specs anyway.

It's sad to think they charge an extra $10 for an 8mhz overclock I could do myself. Otherwise are these the same card???

I'm still mulling over whether to buy now or wait for the price to drop since the 8800gts's are just a bit over my intended budget.

Depends on how urgently you need the card. I would wait for the 9800's (apparently being released first week of April) and take it from there.
