I'm brand new to airsoft, and I'm looking around for a cheap starter unit. So I look at ebay and find that they are selling for like $15-30 including shipping and sometimes including a jar of BBs and protective eyewear and a lasers and all that junk.

How can they possibly be this cheap?

I mean how much would you expect an airsoft gun with BBs and and a laser to cost?
 
they are spring loaded and you most likely have to cock them back after every shot. the gas ones get more expensive. there are also battery powered ones that are full auto but they seem to be pretty weak.

I bought a gas powered hk usp replica for about 50 bucks on ebay. I believe it was a tokyo marui knockoff brand "UHC". It was a kick asss gun, but I got tired of it and sold it. It was strong enough to pierce through card board boxes used to ship stuff.

naw we're just not pansies. we actually played outside and interacted with other kids, sometimes with bb guns. hence now we have a bunch of smart mouth no respect punk kids who would probably curl into the fetal position and cry for mommy if they got shot with a bb.

i had one stuck in the top of my foot for years. doctor said it was in a place it was no use takeing out and some day it might work to the top where it could be taken out. well my foot would start hurting wearing shoes. looked at it and seen a bump. went to the doctor and he took out the BB.

how did it get there? we were goofing off and shooting ourselves in the foot upping each other by pumping it more and more. i did it just a little to much and it went throught my shoe into my foot. heh

only time BB's really hurt was if you got to close or shot on bare skin heh

Well, I never quite did that, but I did shoot BB guns in my Grandpa's basement - you'd have to shoot, then duck ASAP. If you hit the target, you were fine, but the wall behind it was solid cement, so the BBs would ricochet off 😛

Worst thing like that that I ever did wasn't with BBs; it was with paintball guns. The *one* time I went to play. Figures, don't it? anyway, I was assigned to guard the flag, and somebody from the other team went way back into the woods and came up behind me. He shot me once in the back - I felt it, but it must not have popped, because as I was standing up to pull out my "dead" flag, I turned around to see where he was. He meanwhile, was walking toward me, and shot again. That one caught me right in the Adam's Apple :Q Had a mark there for a couple years.

It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye. I'd rather be a wuss than having only one eye.

Also the electric ones can easily take out an eye at close range.

My friend and I grew up with BB-guns in the woods, and even made a potato cannon.

(I am only 19).
 
Fsck BB guns, when I was a kid I lived next to an Apricot Orchard and a Rock Quarry. On any given day in our nieghborhood there'd be 3 kids walking around with a patch on their eye.

We used to use the little pebbles that the school placed to keep the playground floor softer and dryer. There was some piece of equipment we used as a fort.

Don't buy cheap! If you really want to get into the airsoft guns buy the good guns that are upgradable and durable for the sport. They will shoot more accurately have better fire power, etc. Your good side arms run you around $100 to $300 and your rifles run between $200-$1000. depending on what you are buying.
