Are 64 GB SSD for 130$ worth it?

Newegg has a whole bunch of 64 gb ssd in ~$130 range .I was thinking to replace my 8 year old WD 120 Gb (which is still used as my OS/APP HDD ).

Is it worth it for performance over relatively modern WD500 which I was going to put in as my new OS drive? $130 is quite a lot for such a tiny drive , but should be enough for OS install , but only if I get 1.5-2 performance in OS boot up and app start times. For storage and swap I would still use my several archive HDDs

I thought many of the cheaper SSD's suffer from stuttering during simultaneous read/writes. Can anyone elaborate on this? I would guess if this is the case that they wouldn't make a good OS drive.

All of the cheaper SSDs that you can currently buy are using the Jmicron controller with the stuttering issue. New models are coming out in a few weeks. The Jmicron drives might be suitable for a laptop with a little tweaking, but I don't think they will be great for desktop usage.

The ocz vertex drive should be out soon with a non-jmicron controller, 30gb for $130, comes with 32mb of cache and does 200/160mb read/write. Pricey yes... but nice to have.
