Are 266FSB Athlon XP's still made?

Between June and August (2004), I purchased several boxed Athlon XP2000+ and XP2200+. Not only is the current going price $20 ~ $25 higher, but a lot of resellers are either out of stock or don't list them in their catalogs. And many are Thortons, not Thoroughbreds.

Did AMD phase out production of the Model 8 (T-Bred) 266FSB XP?

they did a while back i believe, though the new socket A semprons are the exact same chips if I recall. They are still making the barton mobiles i think, and those have 266 fsb if thats what you looking for.

The Socket A Semprons have 333 FSB, I think. There are still the mobile Bartons, though I don't know if they're still in production.

I'm trying to avoid the mobile chips because, although the mainboards I have will run them, they are not supported in the BIOS. I've ran a mobile XP in one of these boards and it defaulted to something like 600MHz or 800MHz, with no easy way of changing the multiplier. The BIOS reports them as 'Unknown AMD', too.

The mainboards I have are 266FSB max, so Semprons would be a waste of money.

look on pricewatch for xp2600's that aren't 333... got these for my k7s5a's... work ok...

youre better off just buying some 266fsb xp from ebay, or i suppose you could get like a duron applebred or something

actually, just get some cheap axp 😛

you can even try our fs/ft forum, you could probably have a 1700+ for ~35-40 or 2100+ for ~50-60

I've been outbid on two dozen auctions for 2000+, 2200+, and 2400+. People are willing to pay new prices for used CPUs. I'm not one of them. 😕
