Arcticlean?

Has anyone used arcticlean (its a product to remove old TIM) or know if its any good? Do you think its worth getting instead of just cleaning of my old TIM manually? It costs $5.

just go to your local auto parts store and buy some carb cleaner or bug and tar remover, then clean up with iso alcohol. This is how i've been doing it for years

Lighter fluid (naphtha) followed by an isopropyl alcohol rinse works as well as anything else. Particularly on the waxy pads.

I've used it. Pretty good stuff. And don't use a lot of the liquid to take off the goop. I put more than I should have, and I had liquid thermal paste going all over my Xeon... But it works!

Seems like it'd just be cheaper to get the arcticlean, because I don't have either lighter fluid or carb cleaner in my house.

I'd send you mind, but you'd probably end up paying $2 or $3 in shipping anyway. If you want to pay for shipping (first), I'll send it to ya, as I don't need it anymore. Anything to help out another SETI person. 🙂

Thanks for the offer, but if I do end up getting it, I'm going to get it with an XP-90 and some AS5, so the shipping won't cost anything (it'll be thrown in a box with the other stuff).

I really like Articlean. I think it's a good tool to have in your bag when you're working on your own rig, or a friend needs some help with theirs.

A bottle of lighter fluid (Ronsonol) and a bottle of rubbing alcohol cost less than $2.00 total at WalMart.
