Hi, I would like to hear choices and opinions about these two arctic silver's compounds to help me decide.

Spelling.. [ARCTIC]. I prefer Arctic Silver 5 because its keep cpu cooler and I dont know anything about Arctic Silver Ceramique.
 
I prefer Ceramique for large cores, and AS5 for small cores (P4). Thus, I use Ceramique on my Xeon's, and the Opteron systems that I build.
 
i use ceramique. cures faster and you don't have to reapply every year. AS5 is supposedly better, but only by a degree. maybe i'll go AS5 when i get more into OC'ing.
 
Ceramique. Thick, easy to apply, no worries about the occasional mess, and I've never gotten a bubble with it. The ease of application and no bubbles even got my father (a sysadmin, using Rat Shack stuff) converted over to it.
 
AS5 is 1-2C better but Ceramique has other benefits as mentioned above, and that's the reason why I chose it for my water setup. When applying it on the GPU and Chipset I didn't trust my 10 thumbs to apply it only where it was needed.

Ok this is a tweaker's thing to get the best temps then.

We have machines that are three years running with original HS so it seems the factory stuff is good.

A few weeks ago I removed the factory fan from a P4 660 due to horrible throttling and found the problem to be as bad if not worse with the application of AS5. Granted the HSF is not very good for o/c but even at stock voltage and a paltry o/c to 3.8 GHz it still throttled while crunching on PS 9 filters. Sooo it's put away and I'm back to the Xeons and AGP for now.

 
Cermique....

It's easy and goof-proof to spread and I don't see enough difference in temps to change. I think there may be as little as 0 to as much as 3C difference. If you have a rig that struggles to stay below 50'ish then it might be worth it to dig for that extra degree or two. My 3800 Newcastle runs 20 idle and has seen 35C max maybe once.

3800 Newcastle <35C full load? What kind of cooling and room temps?
Mine runs 50+C at full load. Seen as high as 55C when the room temps was warmer this past summer, and that's at stock speed.

As for the paste, I use Ceramique. As stated it's goof proof, and I find it cleans up very easy.

this coming from a pentium user with a zip drive. lol

I prefer artic 5 because it has never done me wrong and switching to ceramique would require ordering it.
