Arctic Silver on Pins of CPU

Hey guys new to the forum although been coming here for years off and on.

Question.
I accidently got some arctic silver on the pins of the CPU and it appears to have gone into the CPU pin sockets on the MOBO also. I did not see that I had done this until after I started up my PC. Now, computer will not even go into POST. Do you think I caused some damage to the CPU or MOBO or is there another issue here?

Thank you,
G

Arctic Silver is thermally conductive, and it contains metal particulate suspended in the paste. A good solvent for it is Windes. You should be able to spray a little on the bottom of the CPU and remove the paste using a soft toothbrush to brush GENTLY between the pins.

To avoid bending pinst, do NOT use a lot of force. Let the Windex do the work.

Good luck. 🙂
