Would it help with overclocking temperatures to apply this on a new one to clean it, or do you only need it if there was thermal paste from before on there?
Generally it's best for removing thermal goop that was previously installed. Once in a while, when I want the best temperatures possible, I clean it before my first installation anyway. It tends to remove some junk anyway - especially the second bottle (thermal surface purifier). I've had far better results with ArctiClean than with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol.
