Arctic Silver 3 or Arctic Silver Ceramique

Which one is better?

or there is a better product ?

i read a Review
saying the Ceramique is better, but the Arctic Silver 3 seems to have a bigger name.

of course i plan to overclock to the max that i have right now.

and i want to keep it cheap, don't have much to get a water cool.

Yah I'll say they are about the same. The reviews aren't conclusive either.. it could tilt either way!

Edit: Not only the review you linked

so, just find a cheaper one?

or any other suggestion?

can they be applied to videocard too?

ceramique i say

although the performance is about the same, ceramique is MUCH eaiser to clean away than as3
as3 has a bigger name cuz its been around longer 😉

I'll 2nd that.

actually, how do u spread all the compound on the CPU.?

just use a blade(a clean one)?

and when u put the HSF on top, do u squeeze(push) it down?

i believe when u press it down hard enough, some of the compound will be squeezed to the edge., is it a problem?

right now i am using Radio Shack Thermal Compound. So i guess the Arctic Silver Ceramique and 3 are better.

How should i get rid of my exist Radio Shack Thermal Compound.? SHould i just pour some "Goof Off" onto a piece of paper towel and begin wiping the thermal compound off?

i like to use a credit card to apply it. you are only supposed to apply a paper thin layer so dont worry about any of it squeezing out

I have found it so much easier to use my finger in a sandwich bag to spread the Arctic Silver (any) out to an even thin layer. If you only put on the single (AMD) or double (P4) grain of rice amount, getting it smeared around is much harder with a blade/card of any kind compared to a baggie. I use to use a card exclusively until I tried a baggie.

I use to make a much bigger mess with a card too and waste more.

I am going to try some of the ceramique out soon cause it has been found to lower temps by about 1 or 2*C over AS3 even,
it's non conductive so it's safer on componnets, and plus it's cheaper too!

I've used both the "baggie" technique and a single edged razor blade for application. Both work well, but the razor blade takes practice!

I've been using the Ceramique on the NB of my 8RDA+, and it's done a great job. I've been an AS3 fan for a long time, but I'm going to try the Ceramique on my next install.

how often do u guys apply it?

i mean do u clean it in a certain of time and reapply it?

can i use it on videocard?

I would say leave it on until you make a CPU/heatsink change. Then reapply it. As for it working on a video card, yes it will, unless you don't have a heatsink on the GPU/VPU of the graphics card. Just take the heatsink off, clean it with some acetone, then rub your AS3/ceramique around on the core or heatsink.

one the heatsink is on, i dont reapply unless i take the heatsink off again. it can be used for the video card as well

nice, didnt know about that. 22 grams should last a lifetime

Hehe I don't think I'd want that much cause I'm sure something better will come out and I'd want to get some but I'd also hate wasting all the other paste by not using it.
I have half a tube of AS2 here still.

ok, , my Arctic Silver Ceramique just arrived today. and i am ready to apply it.

i used an old videocard to rehearsal. when i rub the fan(hsf) using goof off. ya, all of the white stuff is gone, but it seems some when into the metal. the metal seems absorb some of my old radio shack compound. so does it matter? or it is not a big deal?

i don't know if my current videocard is having the same case though.

Those seeking a TIM that is extremely simple to apply, easy to clean up and provides superior thermal performance over other thermal compounds should give some serious consideration to our new Nanotherm PCM+ thermal interface material.

Both of our websites are undergoing major upgrades right now, but you can find out more information about the new Nanotherm PCM+ at www.esgn.com and www.nanotherm.com. FrozenCPU.com, CozyPC.com and Xoxide.com currently have the PCM+ product in stock. Outside the US, please feel free to contact us at esg@esgn.com for a list of Resellers who will soon be stocking the PCM+.

There is an alternative to AS3. It's called Shin Etsu. I tried it myself (the new variety Shin Etsu X-23-7762) and it's actually just a tad better than AS3. It made about 0.5 C difference.. Though this is probably too small of a difference to be reproduceable.
