Arctic Cooling NV5(rev2) on 7800gtx?

I've got the NV5 r2 cooler on my 6800gt. Does anyone know what's changed for the rev. 3? If it's just the added heat sink for ram on backside could it work on a 7800gtx (256mb) card? Thanks for any help.

I think that only rev. 3 is compatible with the 7800 gtx.

yea they just added that back plate which is needed for the GTX

That's what I'm wondering. If that's the case & it's same otherwise it should work. I think the ram chips on backside is just on the 512? If I get a 256 model I'm hoping it may work. Even on a 512 I could install ramsinks.

both the 256 and the 512 have the ram chips on the back. so you do have to get rev.3

im not sure about the rev.2 and memory sinks so if anyone has it that way could chime in

I looked up the two coolers and can't seem to see any difference other than the writing of Revision on them.

Thanks.

The GTX 512 does NOT have ram chips on the back. They used an 8x 64mb chip configuration.

GTX's have a different fan power plug than the 6 series and the 7800 GT's, and only the rev. 3 has this plug.
