the dimensions between rev2/rev3 are identical. rev2 uses soldered copper memory pads while rev3 uses pre-applied thermal pads to cool the memory, also rev3 comes with two fan connectors a 2pin and 4pin(7800gtx only)

both will mount the 7900gt, but you might have to trim/saw the tip of the exhaust since it might be too long and stick out the back fo your case.

rev.2
rev.3

I don't think so!

Both rev 2 and 3 come with thermal pads. It was only the first rev that had copper with no padding for memory.

Your first link is to rev 1 as stated on page 1.

There are pros and cons with each. Yes, even rev 1 has some advantages!

A thermal pad is never as good a thermal conductor as thermal paste.

Place a small amount of thermal paste on your GPU and all memory chips and install your rev 1 just the way you would normally. Then, remove the cooler and inspect the base of the sink. Do all memory chips make contact with the base of the sink? Does the GPU make good contact?
If they do, you are OK and can use your rev 1. If there is a large gap between any of your RAM chips and the sink, contact the retailer and ask for rev 2. That was the main reason for the development of rev 2.

I'd be pissed even if it does work. If you bought a rev 2, then that's definitely what you shouold have received.

The only difference is that Rev. 3 included two fan power connectors, the 2-pin one and the 4-pin one. Rev. 2 only had a 2-pin power connector. Since the 7800GTXs required the 4-pin power connector, AC added a 4-pin so that it would be compatible. That is the only difference between Rev. 2 and Rev. 3. Since the 7900GT uses a 2-pin fan power connector, Rev. 2 will work just fine.
