Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Push Pin Broke

On one of my rigs I was replacing the cpu with a Q6600. Well I accidentally broke one of the push pins when I removed the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. It's currently being cooled by the stock intel heatsink / fan. I don't want to just throw it away... is there a way I can replace the push pin or could I buy some bolt kit? Thanks.

While checking on getting a part from Arctic Cooling (they have a web site ya know), you could jerry rig something if you need to. I just thought of a couple of ways without working up a brain-sweat.

That'll probably work but at nearly half the cost of the whole HSF if you figure in the shipping. I was thinking of something like one of those plastic screw anchors like you use in wallboard and a screw to match at less than a buck total... But only if you can't get another of the original pins. You may have to phone them to get their attention. I seldom have any luck getting a reply on an email many computer parts/case/etc. companies.

Yeah, the cheapest would be to remove the pushpin from stock intel and put it on the AC7 (someone on some forums did that via google search), but I hate pushpins so I think I'm gonna go ahead and order the bolt kit... about $10 after shipping. I actually paid $35 after shipping for my AC7 but that was over a year ago.

I just went to fleaBay and they have an AC7P there with a current bit of $6.50 and $8.00 for shipping. The lock pins on my CM Hyper TX2 are working great but I generally don't mess with my HSFs once they are in place until the fan needs replacing.

I think you honestly should get a bolt through kit. Lots more peace of mind, anyway.

EDIT: And another note...getting in touch with AC is like trying to contact a missing person who's been gone for 10 years.

Sidewinder has a wonderful contact named Gary:
sales AT sidewindercomputers.com

I could tell from the tone of his first email message
that he's competent, reliable, and honest.

Companies like Sidewinder should be rewarded
for recognizing the chronic problem with "push pins"
and then developing the BEST SOLUTION, imho.

BTW: Intel must be mad at me, because one of
their Engineers is now refusing to answer my email.

I do not believe that people should be punished
for telling the truth (unless they are under contract
to maintain secrecy e.g. national security, NDA etc.)

Just my opinion, but I expect that many People
will also agree with me on this point.
