Having looked at various videos on You Tube saying how good the Archos 5 is, I've decided to try one in my local Gadget store. And on each occasion the Archos appears to lock up at random times and the display models are only in demo mode so I'm not able to properly use one. the Archos touch doesn't seem as responsive as the ipod but is still very good.

At the moment I have the ipod touch 8GB which although very responsive, I feel it needs a larger screen when web browsing, at times it is annoying having move the screen around.

Does anyone actually own the Archos 5 and experienced the same lockups I have and which would you consider the best overall.
 
I'm going to be as honest as I can: do NOT buy an Archos 5. They consistently overpromise and underdeliver. Go to the Archos fan forums to find out why. It's a shame, because they genuinely have some amazing hardware, but the software end simply does not get adequate support.
 
The ipod touch/iphone have one of the larger screens for a portable gadget of that type. If it's still not big enough then maybe look into a netbook.
 
Thanks for the feedback. I've found out that Archos are releasing updated versions soon using Andriod software, maybe this is due to all the complaints they have recieved!
