Arbys to buy out wendys...

Shouldn't people be resisting all the corporations buying out other corporations? I mean, within a decade there's only going to be 2 corporations left, possibly 3 if the count the hugely bloated and ineffectual US government.

I thought wendys was more popular than arbys shouldn't wendys being the one doing the buying here.

I was thinking that same thing. I see far more Wendy's everywhere I have ever been than I do Arbys. If they mess with my spicy chicken I may have to go postal.

They can't. It's called a hostile take over which any business that goes public is vulnerable to being a victim of.

I though they still had to be approved by the FTC?

Lenina Huxley: Taco Bell was the only restaurant to survive the Franchise Wars.

John Spartan: So?

Lenina Huxley: So, now all restaurants are Taco Bell.

I need to watch that movie again.

That explains why Wendys started selling roast beef sandwiches about 2 weeks ago. I was wondering if they were merging with Arbys or something along the lines.

Don't you know, in the future, Taco Bell will be the only restaurant to survive the Franchise Wars and all restaurants will be Taco Bell.

I am not really educated enough about hostile take overs to answer that one. I just know the general idea and that they happen more often than I would like.

I don't eat at either one with any regularity, so it doesn't bother me much...I just hope they don't fuck up the Frosty. That was the only decent thing at Wendy's...

If I could get a Jamocha Frosty for $1 I think I'd have to file a restraining order against myself to no go there.

Sounds like you've just uncovered the best way for them to make Wendy's super-profitable 😛

The only food I eat at Wendy's is the $1 menu burgers because I'm not paying $4 for a fast food burger they named double or triple stack. I used to love Arby's when they had those 4 for $5 deals so this is music to my ears. Now if only they can open a Denny's around here too...

You're a sick, sick crab, Anubis. I'd rather eat a Port O Subs abomination than go within 10 feet of an Arby's.

WTF is wrong with port o subs?

Port O Subs just smells BAD. I grew up on Togo's and refused to go to Subway due to the odor, but then I moved to a place that has no Togo's and has Port O Subs instead. That's when I learned what real stench is. There used to be a Blockbuster here next to a Port O Subs and the Blockbuster closed b/c they couldn't get foot traffic. Apparently noone wants to rent movies when the store next door makes your place reek.

Also, it's not coincidental that Port O Subs' initials are POS......

Yeah, TOGO's is great (if you like to have your bread as hard as a rock)

bye bye dollar menu at Wendy's. Arby's is expensive IMO. Wendy's will be the same soon after the buyout. Guess i won't be going to wendy's anymore.

ever since arby's discontinued the 5 for 5.95 (or 6.95 I guess it became) it isn't as appealing to go to anymore.

I'd say they became unattractive when they started to exclude the beef and cheddar from the "5 for 5" deal like 10 or 11 years ago.

Summary:
- Merger will eliminate duplicate corporate functions to cut costs
- Arby's will apply it's ideas of cost-savings in Wendy's restaurants
- The Wendy's brand will expand internationally and increase the menu to include breakfast and more snack items in stores (which was already planned for 2008 anyway.)
- "Dual Concept" development may be implemented in places where it's expensive to own a restaurant (as in, we might see Wendy's/Arby's combo stores in high value areas.)

Essentially, as it always is, the merger is more about maximizing profits by adjusting a business model to increase the value for investors.

I, for one, think that this is going to slowly degrade Wendy's, as most of the Arby's in my area are shitholes and I can't possibly see how their supposed excellent "track record" of management skills exists.

How can Arby's afford this? WHO THE EFF EATS AT ARBY'S!?!?!?

I like Wendy's chicken. This is the end for them.......

Arby's roast beef is much better than a burger, and healthier. I don't get why people hate on Arby's

In other words, what can they do to make more money that lessens quality. 🙁
