Only if it's Ken and Barbie doing the cutting and burning. I did this a few years ago and they are all about 5 inches tall. None of mine survived because they came too late in the summer (lack of rain and lack of effort to water thm on my part).

From the website:
Your 10 free trees are guaranteed to grow, or the Foundation will replace them free of charge. Your six to twelve inch trees will come postpaid (Free shipping) with easy planting instructions.

If you wish, you can choose to have the 10 free trees sent to another address, such as your place of worship. You may also choose to receive the membership without the trees. You will still enjoy all of the great benefits of becoming a National Arbor Day Foundation member.

Don't bother in ca. I couldn't find a single tree they ship to CA including the CA native costal live oak! Appearently they are a bit of a hack group or they think Ca doesn't need any more trees.

This isn't a bad deal, in my experience. They run it every year.

I planted 3 of the trees about 4 years ago. They were little sticks, about 10 inches high.
They're all now about 7-9 FEET high.

I've gotten some oaks from them some years past. 4 years of central texas drought (with some watering) and they didn't grow (drought ended and they shot up 6 ft. in one year) select the trees depending on your region.

Nah that's not it, this is posted on the site:

IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to lengthy inspection times, we are unable to ship trees to AK, AZ, CA, HI or territories.

Still sucks though for us here in CA.

I just tried to sign up for California, I don't know if I will, no idea what i'd do with the trees, but for California at my address (san jose) I have a choice of 10 Colorado Blue Spruce or 10 Flowering Trees (doesn't say what). So if anyone is in California, it looks like you can still get the trees :)
